Paper Cranes

I know I have a big job ahead of me.  1,000 origami cranes is a lot of cranes! lol!   I had been thinking about what I could do for kids in the hospital.  I already do a lot of public speaking to encourage people to sign up to be organ donors but I really wanted to do something for the kids.

When I go for checkups at the hospital I sometimes visit with the kids that are waiting.   I know what they are feeling…I felt it too.   They’re scared and all they want to do is go home.  It helped me (and my family) to know that there were lots of people thinking and praying for me.   I knew this because of all the letters and cards I received but there was one thing that was really special to me.   The kids in my school made paper hearts for the Jump for Heart campaign at my school.  The kids all wrote notes to me on them and my mom strung them together to hang from my ceiling.   I looked at those hearts all the time and at my worst times they helped me remember that as sick as I was, I WAS going to go back home someday and see my friends at school.

That’s why I’m going to make these cranes for others.

Lots and lots to go!

So people keep asking me…how may do you have?  How many cranes have you made?  Well, I keep making them, I haven’t counted them but I know I have a lot more to go!    It’s the end of school so there’s lots of tests.  Once it’s over, in a couple of weeks, I will really be able to crank them out!!

Happy folding!
